Urban and Regional Planning

The Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Nairobi provides both undergraduate and postgraduate professional training in Urban and Regional Planning.  It was established in 1971.  Since then, the department has trained most of the urban and regional Planners in Kenya and has also trained for Eastern and Southern African countries.

The Department of Urban and Regional Planning in the School of the Built Environment  is well endowed  with necessary resources to produce planners who are in position, provide expertise in the human settlements planning and management in the 21st Century.  In addition to undergraduate studies, the department has strong programmes at postgraduate level at Masters and PhD levels.  The department is involved in research and outreach activities.

The strategic location of the department within the city of Nairobi makes it a first choice for students who join as regular or module II candidates. The department has recently integrated information technology courses including Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing in all its teaching areas. These are aimed at equipping graduating planners with requisite skills on demand by employers and the nation at large.

We welcome all who would be interested in joining us in spatial ordering our country's future.
